Our King Jesus is the legitimate King over the present creation. In a special way, He is also the legitimate King over His church. Best of all, He will rule in the future upon this earth and when He creates the new heaven and the new earth.
This week, we see what it took to give us the privilege of being citizens in Jesus' kingdom and what He expects from us.
Please take a few minutes to read through this week text and answer the questions as we prepare our minds for worship.
"in Christ all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through Him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 He has now reconciled in His body of flesh by His death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister."
1) What was our condition before reconciled by Christ?
2) What dramatic payment was necessary to rescue us?
3) What is the requirement for kingdom citizenship in 1:23?
